The Central Missouri Food Bank is a regional disaster and hunger relief network that acquires and distributes millions of pounds of donated food annually. Their food bank is one of a few food banks nationwide that does not charge for the food it provides. Their food goes to soup kitchens, emergency food pantries, shelters for the abused and homeless, programs for low income children and senior citizens, and rehabilitation centers.
The Central Missouri Food Bank serves more than 100,000 people who live at or below the poverty level predominantly the working poor, their children, and the elderly. Central Missouri Food Bank serves 145 agencies throughout 32 counties in central and northeast Missouri. There are currently about 100,000 people living at or below the poverty line in central
and northeast Missouri.
